ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PHD
PhD Eligibility Criteria is M. Phil Home Economics, required in accordance with the rules and regulations of University of the Punjab.
Having not more than two second divisions in the entire academic career.
No 3rd division in the entire academic career (where “division” criteria applicable).
No ‘D’ grade in entire academic career (where “division” criteria applicable).
50% marks required to be obtained in academic merit.
70% marks required in written test.
50% marks required in interview.
Candidates who manage to pass the written examination are requested to bring a research proposal with them on the interview day.

First Year Orientation 2017
Anti Narcotics Walk
Anti-Drug Walk was arranged at Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore under the auspices of Ministry of Narcotics Control. Holding banners for drug prevention, Principal, Prof. Dr. Ambreen Sagheer, Vice Principal, Mrs. Durdana Qaiser, a large number of faculty members and students walked around the college to show their determination to join hands with ANF (Anti-Narcotics Force) against this menace. The focal person Mrs. Musarrat Arif briefed about the harmful effects of drugs. pamphlets were also distributed about the menacing threat of Narcotics to human health.
Ms. Shahzad Munir from Gill Aashiana Welfare foundation also joined the Walk.
Mock Security Exercise
Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore
A mock Security Exercise was held at Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore on august 24, 2017.
SHO Police Station Ghalib Market,
- 3 upper subordinates
- 10 lower subordinates
- 3 police vans took part in the Exercise
The objectives of the Exercise were to define the role of College Administration, teachers, police and guards in the case of a terrorist attack in the girls college and to demonstrate:
- How to cope with the situation vigilantly
- How to check the panic and use class rooms as shelters
- How to save human life and control human loss
- How to evacuate the victims of the attack through safe passages
70th Day of Independence 2017
at GOVT. COLLEGE OF HOME ECONOMICS, GULBERG, LAHORE
On Monday, 14th of August, 70th Day of Independence was celebrated at Government College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore with national zeal and honour . The function started with the flag -hoisting ceremony which was followed by National Anthem. The Principal, Prof. Dr. Ambreen Sagheer, Vice Principal Mrs. Durdana Qaisar, faculty members, council members and students were present on this occasion. To commemorate the services of our national heroes, the students presented national songs and delivered speeches. The program was bilingual. (Urdu, English) The students wearing colorful regional dresses presented a skit which was based on the theme of AZADI and won applause . The Principal, Prof. Dr. Ambreen Sagheer gave the students a message of hardwork. On this occasion, the Principal Prof. Dr. Ambreen Sagheer awarded certificates to the Girl Guides. In the end, a cake was cut and hands were raised in Dua for the safety and solidarity of Pakistan.
DIVISIONAL LEVEL POSTER / PAINTING COMPETITION
AT GOVT. COLLEGE OF HOME ECONOMICS, GULBERG, LAHORE

A Divisional Level Poster / Painting Competition was held at Govt. College of
Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore under the auspices of Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab. Under the supervision of Principal, Prof. Dr. Ambreen Sagheer, the Art Department of the College of Home Economics helped making the arrangements.
The competition was among the toppers of the District Level Round. A total of 4 girls of 4 districts participated. Fakiha Aamir from Lahore,Uzma Shaukat from Sheikhupura, Momina Aslam from Kasur and Anum Tariq from Nankana . Among the judges were Mr. Mughees Riaz and Ms. Naila Aamir. Both are the renowned artists and eminent Assistant Professors of University College of Art and Design University of the Punjab, Lahore. Dr. Tahira Sikander (Principal Jinnah Degree College, Lahore) from the monitoring team of the Directorate also visited. This is important to mention that these competitions are in connection with the 70th Independence Day Celebrations.
The students displayed their aesthetic sense and depicted the theme of Azadi.

DISTRICT LEVEL POSTER / PAINTING COMPETITION
AT GOVT. COLLEGE OF HOME ECONOMICS, GULBERG, LAHORE
In connection with 70th Independence Day Celebration, a District Level Poster / Painting Competition was held at Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore under the auspices of Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab. Students from all over Lahore enthusiastically participated in the competition and displayed their aesthetic sense on the theme of “AZADI”.
The competition was held in collaboration with the Art & Design Department of the college of Home Economics .It was duly supervised by the Principal, Prof. Dr. Ambreen Sagheer. Overall, 18 students participated . One girl from each college. Mr. Mughees Riaz and Mrs. Naila Aamir performed as judges. Both are Assistant Professors of University College of Art & Design (University of the Punjab) Lahore. Ms. Sarwat from the monitoring team of the Directorate also visited.

WINNER OF COOKING COMPETITION COLLABORATED BY COTHM (COLLEGE OF TOURISM AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT) AND INTERNATIONAL HALAL CONFERENCE EXHIBITION 2016
Students of College of Home Economics named, Aimen Jalil, Huma Shahzad, Rabia Akhtar, Arooba Akhtar and Mahnoor Najeeb won the first prize in above mentioned cooking competition. The college awarded a shield and a cash prize of Rs. 25000 along with a food factory.
17th ANNUAL EXHIBITION OF BS PROJECTS 2015-16
An Annual Exhibition based on the projects of BS Home Economics was inaugurated By Begum Shaista Pervez Malik (MNA) on Sunday, 03rd April 2016. The Chief Guest along with the Principal Prof. Dr. Samia Kalsoom visited the Exhibition and was amazed and impressed by the skill, art and unique designs of various product.
On the second day of Annual Exhibition based on the projects of BS Home Economics was held on Monday, 04th April 2016. Chairman HEC Punjab Dr. Muhammad Nazam-ud-Din graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Principal Dr. Samia Kalsoom informed the chief guest that it took whole year to complete these projects and this exhibition was the most awaited event both inside and outside College of Home Economics. The products included clay art, pottery, paintings, murals, 3 days models of rooms, tie and dye, shibori, boutique art, screen printing, block printing, furniture designs, renovated furniture, commercial furniture, landscape, reports on food and institutional management.
On the third day of Annual Exhibition based on the projects of BS Home Economics was held on Monday, 05th April 2016. Mrs. Shahida Naeem, President, Home Economics Association graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The sitting area for the students was also a part of the BS projects. The Computer Department of the College displayed their projects on Corel Draw – a computer based technique in designing (Clothes and Calligraphy). Effective, attractive and colorful teaching aids for the small children were also included in this. A large number of students of Bs final year students belonging to five major departments were involved in preparing these projects.
CIVIL DEFENCE TRAINING AT HOMEC
A Civil Defence Training was held at Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore on Wednesdary 10th February, 2016. Mr. Liaqat Ali commandant of Civil Defence gave a detailed lecture on the use of fire extinguisher, and the chemistry and classification of fire.
The co-ordinator Mr. Zulfiqar and his accompanying instructor Mrs. Tasneem explained the method of rescue / first aid and evacuation.
It was followed by a demonstration of fire –drill and first aid by Mr. Umar and junior instructors. They taught and trained the students how to extinguish fire. A large number of students participated in the demonstration. Principal, Prof. Dr. Samia Kalsoom, a large number of faculty members and people from administration block were also present on this occasion.
MARTYRS OF ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL
INTER-COLLEGIATE PAINTING COMPETITION AT HOMEC
To commemorate the Martyrdom of the students and teachers of Army Public Peshawar, an Inter Collegiate Painting Competition was held at Government College of Home Economics Gulberg, Lahore under the auspices of Government of the Punjab, Education Department Lahore. The students belonging to various colleges participated in the competition. Director Education, Rana Nasim Akhtar, Principal Prof. Dr. Samia Kalsoom, faculty members, teacher from participating colleges were also present. The Hall was let with the heart-touching painting, slogans, Clay Mugs carrying the items of that great tragedy. The paintings especially focused the cruelty of the terrorist and the spirit of the children to rise above all odds and fight terrorism. Following colleges participated, Govt. College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore Wahdat Road College, Model Town, College, Islamia College Cooper Road, Jinnah Degree College, Samanabad College & Queen Marry College, Lahore. Among the judges were Mrs. Shahida Naeem, Mrs. Riffat, Ms. Atifa Usmani. The first Prize was bagged by Mozammil (Govt. Post Graduate College for Women Samanabad, Lahore) 2nd prize Samia waheed College of Home Economics, Gulberg, Lahore 3rd Prize Laraib Hyder from Gulberg College. & Connotation Prize was won by Romesa Rasheed (Govt. College for Women, Gulberg, Lahore.

FC College Sports Gala Winner 2015
Govt. College of Home Economics won the final of Basket Ball Girls Tournament against the host College (FC College Lahore) by 16-13 in FC College Sports Gala on 17-11-2015. 14 teams from different Colleges participated in the event.
